Getting to Arctic Bay, Nunavut

As the third most northerly community in Canada, the hamlet of Arctic Bay, Nunavut is as remote as it is beautiful. Please note transportation to and from the Arctic Bay Airport (YAB) is included as part of our package fees, along with lodging and food.

Travelling By Air

There are no roads to Nunavut, and air travel is by far the most common means of transportation. Regularly scheduled flights depart from Ottawa, Ontario, the capital city of Canada. Ottawa can easily be reached from any major centre in the world.

YAB airport is located 5.6 km southeast of Arctic Bay. Previously the community was served by the Nanisivik Airport located 27 kilometres away.

Canadian North‘s scheduled service carries approximately 225,000 passengers and over 22 million kilograms of freight and mail over its vast and comprehensive route system, which connects 31* Northern Communities with major centres in Ottawa, Montreal, Winnipeg and Edmonton.
